Deacon Stephanie Engel has a deep passion for exploring faith and building connections through learning, service, and play. She is an ordained Minister of Word and Service and holds a Master’s degree in Youth and Family Ministry from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. For the past three years, Stephanie has served as Program Director at Sugar Creek Camp & Retreat Center in Wisconsin, where she led creative, faith-centered programming for people of all ages. Before that, she served as Director of Youth Ministries at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville, IL.

Stephanie also brings a global perspective from her service with Young Adults in Global Mission in Rwanda and a love for outdoor ministry, shaped during her college summers at Mt. Cross Bible Camp in California. She is passionate about equipping others to share their God-given gifts and creating spaces where people can grow in faith and community. Stephanie shares life with her spouse, Casey, and their daughter, Amelia.

Together they enjoy spending time outdoors, playing board games, and exploring new hobbies. Recently, they’ve taken up roasting their own coffee beans, pickling garden vegetables, and perfecting a sourdough pizza crust.

As she steps into the role of Executive Director, Deacon Stephanie is eager to bring the gifts and learning from her time at Sugar Creek and is especially excited to connect with congregations, leaders, and families in building vibrant ministry

together.

Deacon Stephanie will start her ministry with Camp Onomia in early October, with installation on Sunday, December 14, 3:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Princeton, MN.

Please join us in welcoming Deacon Stephanie, Casey, and Amelia to Camp Onomia!
