Stories from Camp Onomia: 1st Time Campers

For some campers, the first step toward a great summer is simply being willing to try.

In our newest Stories from Camp Onomia video, two first-time campers share what it was like to spend their first summer at Camp Onomia. They talk about the things they enjoyed, from the food and counselors to all the new experiences that come with being at camp.

But their stories are about more than just what they did at camp. They also talk about facing fears, trying things that felt new or unfamiliar, and discovering that they could do more than they expected.

And perhaps the best part? They are proud of themselves for giving camp a chance.

That feeling of accomplishment is one of the gifts of summer camp. Camp gives young people opportunities to step outside their comfort zones in a supportive community, try something new, make memories, and discover a little more about themselves along the way.

We’re so proud of these campers for taking that first step, and grateful they shared their experiences with us!
