Meet Your Staff

Deacon Stephanie Engel
Executive Director
Deacon Stephanie serves as Executive Director of Camp Onomia, where she stewards the people, land, and resources entrusted to the camp’s mission. With a background in outdoor and congregational ministry, she leads with both vision and care; guiding strategy, supporting staff and partners, and nurturing Onomia as a sacred place of formation and belonging.
Stephanie is passionate about hearing people’s stories and helping them discover how God is calling them to share love in the world. She hopes to cultivate a community where people are free to be themselves, find joy in faith, and deepen their connection to God and creation. She welcomes your hopes and dreams for how God is calling us forward together.
Outside of camp, Stephanie shares life with her spouse, Casey, their daughter, Amelia, and a growing number of cats. As a family, they enjoy board games, kayaking, zoo trips, and trying every flavor of gelato they can find.
Stephanie holds a Master of Arts in Children, Youth, and Family Ministry from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and is ordained as a Minister of Word and Service (Deacon) in the ELCA. She also serves as Curriculum Development Manager for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries.
