About US
Camp History
Camp Onomia was born in 1949 by an association of Lutheran congregations desiring to establish "a place set apart" for Christian nurture and study. The founding name of the camp was American Lutheran Memorial Camp.

For over 70 years we have provided our churches and families refuge, recreation, and renewal in our journey of faith.
mission
"Camp Onomia offers a life changing experience which invites all people
to encounter Christ through Creation and Community."
mission statement

Onomia is governed by an association of congregations offering programs and facilities to people of all ages and backgrounds. We are a faith-based ministry which seeks to serve all people, faiths, and denominations.

We are a member of the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries, an ELCA camping organization.
support
Camp Onomia receives no synodical or national church funding. Approximately 33% of our operating budget comes though fees charged for programs and site rental. Member congregations reduce summer camp fees by over 25% though annual dues. The balance of our suppport comes though individual and group donations.
