About US
Camp Onomia was founded in 1949 by an association of Lutheran congregations seeking to create “a place set apart” for Christian nurture and growth. Originally known as American Lutheran Memorial Camp, it has remained a sacred space for generations.
For more than 75 years, Camp Onomia has offered churches and families a place of refuge, recreation, and renewal along their journey of faith.

We are a faith-based ministry committed to serving people of every faith, tradition, and denomination. We welcome all—regardless of race, creed, or sexual identity—to experience belonging, renewal, and growth in this sacred space.
Camp Onomia is proud to be a member of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries, the national network of camps and retreat centers of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Camp Onomia thrives because of a community that believes in its mission. Our story is sustained by people like you.
About one-third of our budget comes from camper and retreat fees, while our member congregations faithfully invest in the next generation by covering nearly half of every camper’s summer costs through their annual support. The rest—the heart of our ministry—comes through generous gifts from individuals and groups who believe that everyone should have access to this sacred place of renewal.
