Sustaining Camp Onomia through Annual giving
Ministry Statement
Camp Onomia is a place where people of all ages come for Christian renewal,
recreation, and spiritual nurture.
Camp Onomia is a not for profit
organization, recognized by the state of Minnesota and by the Internal Revenue
Service as a charitable organization and is defined by the IRS as an
organization with 501(c)(3) status. All gifts, contributions and donations made
to Camp Onomia are deductible from state and federal income taxes, according to
current law, as charitable contributions.
Where your dollars go
User fees currently cover 70% of our operational budget. This leaves 30% or
approximately $150,000 to be received by individual donations or church
contributions. We DO NOT receive any synodical benevolence. Our present budget
allows for no capital expense. Donations to our annual budget, moneys that
we can depend upon each year for basic operations, are critical to the
sustainability and FUTURE of Camp Onomia. We run with a very minimal staff and
our facilities are very old and tired. Be assured that your donations are used
wisely and with accountability.

You can make a one time annual gift by check or credit card by slow

Special giving opportunities

towards . These gifts assist us in completing projects that are not approachable
by our yearly budget. All gifts are welcome. If you are able, we do ask that you
prayerfully consider a major gift towards the project you choose so that we may
expedite the completion of this work.
Vogel Retreat Center Projects
The RC was built in 1972. It continues to serve hundreds of families, adults,
and youth all year round. It is the only facility at camp that is open
throughout the year and provides us an important source of revenue.
Approximately 30% of our yearly income is covered by Retreat Center guest fees.

more efficient cost wise to operate. Therefore, these improvements enable us to
do more ministry while we reduce costs to run this facility!

There are wonderful opportunities and tax benefits to include Camp in your
financial planning. Let us connect you to folks in the know who can help you
place Camp Onomia on your list of caring organizations deserving your gift.

Sustaining Camp Onomia as a Member Congregation
Why should my church be an active member of the Camp Onomia Association?
Camper fees cover only a portion of our annual budget. Camp Onomia WILL
NOT EXIST without a growing association of congregations who put youth
and Family ministries on the top of their priority list. Member congregations
are asked to contribute $2.50 per baptized member, although this pledge is not
set in stone. Some congregations can so more. Some do less. What is important is
the partnership in ministry that we share, and the commitment we receive from
you to help support, use, and direct this ministry. Member congregations provide
two delegates to the annual meeting. We ask each congregation to provide two
advocates to the ministry, who become the voice of Camp Onomia in your
congregation.
What are the benefits?
- Partnership in ministry, filled with wonderful resources and events that
will benefit your congregation immediately and in the future
- Access to two professional outdoor ministries staff who are available as
a resource and to help lead events in your church
- Partnership in a ministry that brings children and families closer to
God and builds community. Evangelism.
- Ownership in facilities on 220 beautiful acres on Lake Shakopee
- Camp is a place that develops leaders for the church. 70% of our clergy
speak of an outdoor ministry experience as part of their discernment process
- 75% of the youth who stay active in church life after confirmation point
to a Bible Camp experience as a significant factor in their faith journey
- Reduced fees on most retreats and programs for member congregations!
